ANALYSE – Two brands are launching offers on a more powerful 5G technology than the standard one. Telecom operators have so far failed to monetize their investments in this new technology.

True to his constant desire to present himself as a pioneer of innovation, his Free operator announced on Wednesday that it was the first in France to launch the so-called standalone 5G (or 5G SA) nationwide. The response was not long in coming. In the evening, Orange followed suit with the launch of a so-called 5G + Home offer.
The communication war is still raging in the ultra-competitive telecom market. And 5G SA, also known as « true 5G » or 5+, is one of the axes on which operators will fight in the coming months. As a reminder, this is the second generation of the technology, more powerful than the one launched in 2019 in France for the general public.
